From City Hall today:
Nominations for City volunteer, good neighbour awards now open
There are many in St. Catharines who are gracious with their time to help make the community a better place. Let’s give them their due: share the stories of volunteers in your community and honour their contributions at the City’s Volunteer Recognition Night.
The City celebrates volunteers from across St. Catharines Tuesday, April 9 at Volunteer Recognition Night, a special event where the recipients of the Mayor’s Volunteer of the Year Award and the Margaret and Robin MacLennan Youth Volunteer of the Year Award will be announced. This year’s Volunteer Recognition Night will also include MyHoodSTC Recognition Awards, a new program designed to foster a healthier St. Catharines.
The MyHoodSTC Awards will recognize two residents in every ward: Youth awards for individuals under 25 who have taken leadership roles in their neighbourhood by improving the quality of life for residents; and Connection awards for individuals who have initiated activities that express desire to do more to improve the quality of life for residents by designing an inclusive, diverse gathering in culture, age and ability.
“We are really excited to introduce the MyHoodSTC awards this year,” said Brianne Wilson, the City’s acting community and events supervisor and coordinator for Volunteer Recognition Night. “MyHoodSTC awards will recognize our good neighbours whose contributions are making their communities awesome places to be.”
Nominations for the City’s volunteer awards are now open. Visit www.stcatharines.ca/awards to submit nominations for the City’s volunteer and good neighbour awards. Nominations are due by Friday, March 1.
