Lots of good news to talk about at City Hall today:
City appoints Phil Cristi as director of
Parks, Recreation and Culture Services
Oct. 18, 2017 – The City of St. Catharines has appointed Phil Cristi as director of Parks, Recreation and Culture Services.
Cristi has been part of the City’s management team since 2013 when he came on board as manager of recreation and culture services. He’s served as acting-director since being appointed to the position last fall.
“Phil has an excellent understanding of the needs of the community and his leadership was vital during a time of significant capital investments improving our parks and recreation facilities here at the City,” said acting CAO Shelley Chemnitz. “Phil has extensive management skills, a solid reputation for building community and a commitment to his profession that make him the right person to lead our Parks, Recreation and Culture Services department.”
Before coming to the City, Cristi was general manager of the YMCA of Greater Toronto.
Cristi was selected from a group of qualified candidates after recruitment efforts launched in Spring 2016 attracted applicants from across the country. During the term of his appointment as acting director, Cristi assumed the full responsibilities and authority of the position and provided leadership and accountability for the department’s service mandate and strategic objectives.
“It’s been a privilege to be a part of the great team here at the City of St. Catharines,” said Cristi. “I’m extremely excited to continue our good work strengthening our community.”
Great job Phil – well deserved, and a major asset to the City of St. Catharines.
